Fact Findings Mission

Conducted fact-findings on landmine victims in Phaparbari, Makawanpur on 15th of 2063-10-15 B.S. During this period, mediation techniques were employed to save the life of a police officer, who was at risk due to the accusations of sexual harassment by agitating students. Additionally, the mediation successfully interrupted the potential for communal violence, helping to prevent its escalation.
Conducted fact-finding on the damages caused by a bomb blast at Sanchayakosh Bhawan, Sundhara, Kathmandu in 2063. This included documenting the injuries sustained by individuals as a result of the explosion.
Conducted fact-findings on landmine incidents in Rautahat district and along the Mahendra Highway on 13th of 2063-8-13 B.S, documenting the impact and damages caused by the landmines in these areas.
Conducted a fact-finding mission on the bomb blast near the Maoists liaison office at Kupondole by an unidentified group on 6th of 2063/11/6, investigating the cause, impact, and the individuals involved in the attack
Conducted a fact-finding mission on the killing of Rama Adhikari by the Army on the false accusation of supplying arms to the Maoists in Tagandubba, Jhapa on 19th of 2062/3/19 BS, documenting the circumstances surrounding the incident and the impact on the victim’s family and community.
Conducted a fact-finding mission regarding the incident in Hanumandhoka, Kathmandu, where one person was killed, one person was injured, and two individuals were arrested by security personnel. The mission involved documenting the events, identifying the individuals involved, and assessing the impact of the incident.
Conducted a fact-finding mission in Phokhari Chauri-9, Kavre, concerning the rape and murder case of Rina Rasaili and Pabitra Chaulagain. The mission involved investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident, gathering evidence, and documenting the impact on the victims’ families and the local community.
Conducted a fact-finding mission in Mahendra Nagar, Kanchanpur, where three students were injured due to provoked firing by the army on 16th of 2062-1-16 BS. The mission involved gathering details of the incident, interviewing witnesses, and assessing the impact of the firing on the injured students and the surrounding community.
Conducted a fact-finding and rescue mission regarding the abduction of 13 people from Chhaimale, Kathmandu on 30th of 2063-7-30 BS. The mission focused on investigating the circumstances of the abduction, identifying those responsible, and coordinating efforts to rescue the victims. The outcome involved providing support for the safe return of the abducted individuals and addressing the security concerns in the area.

Monitoring Mission

Conducted a monitoring and situation study mission covering Lahan, Siraha, Janakpur, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, and Parsa during the peak of the Madhesh Movement (Tarai Andolan) on 11th of 2063-10-11 BS. The mission successfully utilized mediation techniques to minimize human rights violations and reduce tensions in the region, ensuring that conflicts were addressed peacefully while safeguarding the rights of affected communities.
Monitored the Second Division of the Maoist camp at Sindhuli along with its allied camps, including the Bishal Kumar Smriti Brigade at Belsodh and the Solu-Saleri Brigade at Chandanpur on 27th of 2063-09-27 BS. The mission aimed at overseeing the situation, ensuring compliance with human rights norms, and documenting any developments or concerns arising within these areas.
Conducted Monitoring and Peace Audit of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) across all five regions from June 2006 to 2008. The mission focused on assessing the implementation of the peace agreement, identifying challenges in the peace process, ensuring adherence to human rights, and evaluating the progress made toward sustainable peace during and after the civil conflict in Nepal.
Conducted Monitoring of Refugee Camps in Jhapa, Morang, and Sunsari to assess the living conditions and situations inside and outside the camps from 7-10 February 2008. The mission focused on evaluating the refugees’ access to basic necessities, security, and legal status, while also identifying challenges related to their integration and livelihood opportunities in the host communities.
Conducted Monitoring of Internal Armed Conflict in the Central and Eastern Terai, focusing on the activities of split groups, from 27 December 2007 to 5 January 2008. The mission involved assessing the impact of these groups on local communities, identifying human rights violations, and documenting the security and political implications of their actions in the region during this period.
Conducted Monitoring of People’s Movement-II (Jana-Andolan-2, 2062-63 B.S.), tracking human rights violations during the movement. The mission focused on documenting instances of violence, suppression, and abuses by both state and non-state actors, as well as monitoring the political and social dynamics of the movement aimed at restoring democracy in Nepal.
